Course Overview
Introduction
"We are surrounded by data but starved for insights" – Jay Baer.
At Health Data Acumen (HDA), we are on a mission to transform research in Africa through practical, insightful training on research methodology for better clinical practice and outcomes.
The MicroMaster in Epidemiological, Clinical, and Operational Research Methodology (ECORM) is a bespoke and comprehensive course designed for health professionals. It avoids unnecessary technicalities, allowing investigators to focus on essential aspects of research. This program begins by guiding participants in identifying a good research question and planning an efficient, effective, and ethical study design. The module on sample size estimation simplifies the process, enabling participants with minimal statistical training to perform calculations independently, without complex formulas. Additionally, our unique data management module empowers participants to design their own electronic databases using open-source, powerful data management tools.

Course Delivery Method and Approach
This course will be delivered through a hybrid method. Participants will have access to an e-learning platform throughout the course with scheduled live Zoom sessions.
At the beginning of the course, participants in the full program will be assigned to a research group to develop a research proposal on a selected topic. From day one, they will begin working on their research projects. At the end of the training, the best research proposal will receive a seed from HDA to support project implementation.
Upon completion of the full program, participants will receive a free 6-month mentorship to assist in project execution and results dissemination.
What Makes Our Course Special
- Seed for the best research proposal developed during the course.
- Free 6-month mentorship for participants who complete the full program to support research project execution.
